Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 15-39

Abstract
The research presents an evaluation of supply chain management strategies in the Iraqi industrial sector, which represents one of the most important pillars in the building and developing the economy of the state. The public company for the pharmaceutical industry and medical supplies/ Nineveh is chosen as sample.

Data collected involves workers of both high and low Positions, in senior management represented by managers, heads of departments and units and production units, which are responsible for the activities of management of the supply chain. (30) Questionnaire forms were distributed. A combination of statistical methods included (duplicates, percentages, the mathematical community, and standard deviations, as well as coefficients of variation) were used in data analysis.

Based on the results of the analysis, the research comes up with a set of conclusions; the most important is that the company surveyed has adopted a mix of strategies for managing the supply chain in their work, with different reliability levels. This researcher presented a set of recommendations as the need to give greater freedom for the company surveyed to work autonomy with regard to procurement without reference to the policies imposed on them by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals.

The Role of Some Human Factors in Improving Productivity

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 41-76

Abstract
The word “productivity” is first mentioned in the 18th century in a research of the French econmist (Franswa Kenai) in 1766. The beginging of the 20th century witnessed many countries interest in the researches and applied academic studies about productivity, its measuring methods and factors affecting it. However, in spite of the oldness of productivity subject, the current rapid scientific and technological progress have participated in increasing competition among most countries and enterprises; pushing them toward increasing consideration of scientific research in this subject, determination of factors affecting it and treatment of its reduction reasons in order to raise its competition capabilities in global markets.
The studies carried about productivity indicate that there are a number of factors affecting its improvement; human factors come in the first place.

So, this research is oriented to study the role of some humaneness factors in improving productivity by application in the Northern state Company of cement via studing the most affecting factors in promoting productivity theoretically and studying the role of some human factors such as organizational environment, labor force structure, wages and motivations. The data were collected depending on a five folds interval questionaire form to measure and test the research variables, the statistical program SPSS V.18 has been used to process data.
The research has come up with a number of results like: There is a positive correlation and effect between human factors and productivity. Also, the research has presented a number of recommendations like: Concentrating on both materialistic and morale motivations and the fairness in giving these motivations should be considered due to their direct impact on improving workers productivity and establishing the process of workers training as its one of the main elements affecting productivity improvement.

The Role of Mass Customization Pillars in Reinforcement of Promotional Activities

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 77-109

Abstract

Business imposes its effects on the organizations working in its environment and causes them to find best means to be engaged with. In an attempt to do so, these organizations have adopted the idea of mass customization pillars as a means and an approach to enter these business environments. However, the reality of the businesses environment is full of data contributing in the performance of many activities and work. This fact evoked the researcher and led him to raise the following questions: Do heads of departments in spinning and weaving factory have an idea about the concept of mass customization and do they know how to apply this concept and its pillars?

The researcher conducts a questionnaire as a tool to collect the data of this phenomenon. Some statistical methods were used to analyze the data collected.

Finally, the researcher comes up with some conclusions; the most important one is that there is a correlation and effect between mass customization pillars and business activities to a certain percentage.
Accordingly, the researcher gives some suggestions and recommendations.

Using Attribute Based Costing (ABCII) In Customer Profitability Analysis

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 111-149

Abstract

The main element of power in the Attribute Based Costing System (ABCII) lies in its ability to offer products with different specifications for different customers according to their needs and desires. Consequently it has a significant impact on product design process, the cost and marketing.

However, the different product specifications required by each customer lead to different profitability generated from each customer. Hence, companies try to analyze customers’ profitability to meet the challenges of the market and maintain the customers who achieve profitability for the company and try to reduce the products cost required by customers who do not achieve profitability for the company. The current research deals with the concept of Attribute Based Costing System (ABCII) in order to analyze the profitability of customers and its contribution in the provision of information on cost required specifications of products by each customer as well as the revenue that can be realized from those specifications.

The results show how effective is the Attribute Based Costing System (ABCII) in customer profitability analysis.

Gender Identification Based on Speech Signal

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 151-170

Abstract

In this paper algorithm has been proposed to identify the speaker's gender based on the signal of her sound. This algorithm relied on deriving the features of speaker's signal in order to gain a representation of this signal and to get benefit from those features in establishing data base that includes the identity of the speaker as well as the drawn features and her gender.
This paper present an algorithm confirm the speaker’s gender. The Fourier transformation is adopted here in order to derive some of the factors that depend upon the Fourier transformation factors where those factors have been adjusted to gain an equality of the 15th degree that is too close to the speaker's signal after transforming it to Fourier transformation.
The practical application reveals that the amount of the approach of the derived equality is not affected by the equality degree of the polynomial after the 15th degree. This algorithm has been applied on a sample of more than 50 speakers of different groups of age of the two genders where three words of each speaker have been gained then those words are transformed to Fourier transformation where the rate is calculated after adjusting the signal into polynomial of 15th degree.
The derived values will be stored after arranging them in decreasing way to be features by which the speaker's gender can be recognized. The practical application of the proposed algorithm resulted in getting on distinction ratio approaches to 72% out of 20 samples. The approaching factor is employed to determine has to do with the distinction ratio.

Using the Artificial Neural Networks with different algorithms to estimate the daily evaporation in Mosul city by using climate Information

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 171-191

Abstract
In this research a model of Neural Networks was applied to estimate the daily Evaporation of Mosul city using certain climate parameters (the maximum and the minimum temperature, rain, relative humidity, wind speed and the sun shine) for any day in the year using the Feed Forward Back Propagation (FFBPNN), Cascade-Forward Back Propagation (CFBPNN) and the FitNet network. Each of these networks has two architectures: architecture with four layers and five cells in the hidden layers from one hand, and architecture with five layers and five cells in the hidden layers from the other.
Different algorithms were used for the training: Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm (LM), Quasi-Newton algorithm (BFGS), Conjugate Gradient algorithm (CFG), Gradient Descent algorithm (GD) and Gradient Descent with Momentum algorithm (GDM). Data were obtained from the forecast Directorate in AlRashedeyyah district in Nineveh Province for the period (1995-2008) are used in the research. Data of ten years for the period (1995-2004) were employed to develop the models and the data of four years were used to evaluate the models, to compare their outputs with the data measured. R2 and the RMSE methods were used to estimate the level of correspondence for the measured data and NN outputs to select the best prediction model from the models applied.
Results show that the FitNet with (LM) algorithm is efficient in improving a prediction model to estimate the daily Evaporation as the value of coefficient estimation was )0.98(, and this is considered the best and the fastest algorithm if temperature, rain, relative humidity, wind speed and sunshine data available for any day in the year.

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 11-28

Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of an experimental study of a two-axis (Azimuth and Altitude) automatic control solar tracking system to measure the solar radiation in an inexpensive way by a tracking solar PV panel according to the direction of the beam propagation of the solar radiation from dawn to dusk. The designed tracking system consists of four sensors (LDR) and a programmable logic controller (PLC) which controls two DC servomotors with control software designed for this purpose to move the system panel according to the information from the input sensors, keeping the panel always perpendicular to sun rays.

The designed software contains also a backup program (override part of the software) which controls the tracker in adverse weather conditions (cloudy or partly cloudy). To investigate the effect of using two-axis sun tracker system in measuring the solar radiation, an experimental study is carried out to evaluate its performance in the territory of Mosul Technical Institute.

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 29-60

Abstract

The perceptual identification of sounds is one of the most important areas in foreign-language learning. It often sets a precedent for sound discrimination, which should be practiced thoroughly in the earlier stages of learning English as a foreign language (EFL). Nevertheless, teaching experience has shown that misidentifying the sounds perceptually can be predicted in the performance of the Iraqi student teachers (AIST) majoring in English. This is mostly applied to the identification of vowels, in general, and that of diphthongs, in particular.

The purpose of this paper is to find whether or not the AIST have some difficulties identifying the English diphthongs perceptually mostly because of the vowel system operating in their L1 which prevents them have an accent-free L2 and the lack of the appropriate exposure to a natively spoken L2, with the teacher as the only available model. The paper comes up with some possible solutions that can easily be adopted by the teachers of English in both earlier and advanced stages.

The database for this study consists of the subjects' responses to the oral stimuli provided by the researcher, and the samples are taken from 12 students of the 5th year/ Dept. of English of the Teacher Training Institute/ Nineveh.

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 4, Issue 2, Pages 207-228

Abstract

Efficient technologies have been recently used in fractal image coding (FIC) to reduce the complexity of searching for matching between range block and domain block.
The research aims at using the Parallel Genetic Algorithm (PGA) by the technology of the (Manager/Worker) in parallel computers to obtain matched domain blocks that prevent unsuitable convergence by coding the site of the searching domain block with a Gray code and a fitness function that minimizes the space between the matching of the current range block with the domain block under discussion in order to choose a protection strategy and coding of high accuracy for any image.
Results showed that PGA is successful in fractal image coding and is flexible and efficient in reaching the optimum solution in higher speed and efficiency through using the Gray code.
The searching method used for the parallel algorithm for compression and decompression, the method of choosing GA's coefficients, the selection, the crossover and mutation had a significant role in improving the image compression ratio and quality. Compression ratio has reached 87% while the image quality was improved after decompression that reached roughly 33% compared to traditional method in fractal image coding (FIC).

Random building in arable land in Iraqi Law

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 4, Issue 2, Pages 143-161

Abstract

All untidily scattered buildings obstruct the agricultural operations, because these buildings create undesirable opportunities which open gates of expenditure and damages, accounting for these buildings need roads, electricity, water, protection and all other social services, and as a result of this kind of constructions the bad cases of social, healthy and cultural will increase.

The Iraqi legislator didn't allow using agricultural land for non– agriculture with the exception of permission of specialized buildings concerning agriculture only. When some decisions had been issued by the abolished Council of Revolution command permitted the limited dwelling constructions on the agricultural land, more people competed to swallow the land without taking care of the visible future and national dimention.
Situation got worst during the years of the blockade, and after American occupation. There were no effective efforts comprise the volume of the problem. A matter which requires a real protection for arable land through obliged legislation, in addition to re-working of some abolished laws, such as law of agricultural land tax, No. 60 in the year 1961, in order that all owners and the others who have working rights in lands can act together for agricultural exploitation without delay, whatever are the circumstances.

The Structure of Bilingual Family Discourse Iraqi-Kurdish families as a sample

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 4, Issue 2, Pages 23-45

Abstract

This study investigates some systemic features of language use, which are related to bilingual family discourse. Discourse analysis is used as a method for studying the discourses in question. The model adopted is that of Sinclair and Coulthard (1975, 1992).

The aim of this analysis is to recognize the discourse patterns and strategies that are used by the members of the selected families during conversations.

It is hypothesized that bilingual family discourse is structured and is highly organized despite the constant and random topics shifting, changing of the participant’s roles, and sometimes violation of some grammatical rules.

Data analysis shows that family discourse is of five ranks, namely interaction, transaction, exchange, move, and act. Interaction consists of transaction which is composed of a number of exchanges. An exchange in turn comprises a number of moves which can be divided into different types of acts. The research has come up with a conclusion that validates the set hypothesis.

Biblical Allusions in Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath

Abdul Ali Jasim; Shayma

Buhuth Mustaqbaliya Scientific Periodical Journal, Volume 4, Issue 1, Pages 7-26

Abstract
It is no accident that many characters and events in Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath reflect historical, religious and mythological figures. That is exactly what this study tries to prove. For example, there are certain Biblical references in the title of the novel itself. There are also many parallels to the Bible, for instance, Jim Casy has the same initials as Jesus Christ, and he travels to California with twelve people (a migration toward sort of Eden, like when Moses led his people out of Egypt). Christ had twelve apostles. Casy scarifies himself for Tom, and gives up his life willingly to help the lives of others. There are other parallels to Noah and Virgin Mary. Also, there is an indication to the Exodus journey which is reflected and paralleled by the journey to California.
